Center for Rural Studies (CRS) "The Center for Rural Studies (CRS) is a nonprofit, fee-for-service research organization which addresses social, economic, and resource-based problems of rural people and communities. Based in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont (UVM), the Center provides consulting and research services in Vermont, the United States, and abroad."
Centre for Rural Economy (CRE) "The Centre for Rural Economy is a research centre at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our main focus is on sustainable development for rural areas, with current work falling into two strands: rural development and agri-environment. The research is conducted at a local, regional,
national and European level, and includes both traditional academic approaches and participative action research. CRE's staff cooperate with colleagues in our parent Department, Agricultural Economics and Food Marketing in the supervision and teaching of post-graduate students."
Center for Rural and Regional Studies "The Rural History Database, containing over 40,000 records, covers the period prehistory to the recent past and mainly consists of journal articles. Many date from the late 18th and 19th centuries. (For example some 1400 articles have been extracted from the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society of England which began publication in 1840). However the majority of articles in the Database were published in the leading and lesser known journals from the 1940s up to the present year. The database also contains over 5,000 theses awarded degrees world-wide since the 1870s, including contemporary surveys which are now of historical interest. There are also 7,000 books in the database, most of which are held by the Rural History Centre's library, and articles from edited works. References have been trawled from published bibliographies, footnotes, and over 1500 journals. The Rural History Database is updated regularly."
Rural Issues Center "With a focus on strengthening Nebraska communities, the Center provides information, educates, and assists people and communities in rural areas in a manner that contributes to improved decision making and an enhanced quality of life. Central to this mission is the capability of the University of Nebraska to plan, develop, and implement high quality programs that focus on the opportunities and challenges of rural people and communities."
Rural Society "Rural Society is a journal of rural social issues, published three times a year by the Centre for Rural Social Research. It is a fully refereed academic journal, but designed to be accessible to a broad readership. Topics covered in Rural Society have included the rural media; small town development; rural gender issues; agricultural restructuring; heritage and tourism; youth and ageing in rural areas and many other rural related topics."
Welsh Institute of Rural Studies "The Welsh Institute of Rural Studies brings together over 50 academic staff in all the necessary land-based disciplines, in a unique study environment which develops a multi-disciplinary approach to the problems of rural areas."
